Hello, Jim and Sue Smart here. We started our family business, SmartSweep Chimney Service, in 1999. Located in Apple Valley, Minnesota, SmartSweep was created to serve the entire Twin Cities area, including Minneapolis and St. Paul.
We are dedicated to providing the highest quality chimney inspection, repair, and sweep services to every customer we serve, and pride ourselves on our continuing education in the chimney service industry. Jim is a CSIA Certified Sweep, a F.I.R.E Certified Fireplace Inspector, and an NFI Certified Wood Burning Specialist, and also has accrued hundreds hours of continuing education taken at the headquarters of the Chimney Safety Institute of America in Indianapolis, Indiana. No one else in the Twin Cities area has more chimney-related credentials or continuing education than Jim. Jim also has a BA degree in Linguistics from the University of New Mexico (1988).
Each of our technicians is a family member, personally trained by their father, riding “shotgun” and training with him long before becoming CSIA certified themselves. (While training with their Dad they found out quickly that if they don’t do it right the first time, they’d be doing it over again!) We always keep our sweep, inspection and repair certifications maintained at current status to provide you with the best service in our profession.
We are also proud to announce the addition of our son, Jesse Smart, once again to the SmartSweep team. Jesse has recently recertified as a CSIA Certified Chimney Sweep with the Chimney Safety Institute of America and has decided, after finishing college, to continue with the SmartSweep tradition of excellence to every customer. So, SmartSweep truly is a family business, allowing us to provide nothing but the best maintenance, repair, and inspection services to you, our customers, with pride as we serve you with your chimney and fireplace needs.
